Making Distance Irrelevant
What is Distance Learning?
epl is proud to be Texas Tech University’s official TTU K-12 partner in Costa Rica. Covering elementary to high school, TTU K-12 is a learning program that combines the power of state-of-the-art digital resources with the vast experience of epl’s knowledgeable tutors to provide an education based on critical thinking, creativity, and academic excellence. After completing the program, TTU K-12 graduates receive a highly-regarded US High School diploma, which opens doors to colleges both in the US and around the world.
While TTU K-12 ensures that students develop their skills in the divisions of STEM, social sciences, humanities, and physical education, how students do so is based on their interests. For each division, students can pick and choose from a variety of courses that cover different topics and disciplines. This flexibility allows students to not only fulfill the educational requirements but to do so in a way that promotes their innate inquisitiveness and intellectual engagement.
Can Distance Learning help me for the Costa Rican MEP Exams?
Yes! Even though TTU K-12 is based on the Texas State educational curriculum and requirements, it is also an effective tool, along with epl’s support, to prepare students for MEP exams if they choose to sit them. epl would make sure to include in your curriculum Costa Rican Civics, Social Studies and Spanish literature to prepare you for all parts of the exams.
What does a typical day of Distance Learning look like?
Since epl makes sure that each student’s distance learning experience meets their personal needs and interests, what a “typical” day looks like varies from one individual to another. Every student has a personalized and unique educational journey, in which epl encourages them to grow into independent young adults ready to face the next stage of life by the time they graduate. As such, picture the following description of a “typical” day not as something set in stone but rather as a white canvas waiting for you, the artist, to paint your future:
Say you usually wake up by 8:00 a.m. At 9:30 am, you could begin working 1-on-1 online or in-person with an epl tutor on your courses through experiential exercises, readings, and discussions. Younger students may finish their studies by noon, while older students might finish up by 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. In the afternoons, we offer a wide array of extracurricular activities at epl’s Creative Garage, leadership and volunteering activities, and artistic enrichment programs.
Depending on the day, you may cover more subjects. Reviewing in the evening and making time for more reading before bedtime is a great way to break up the subjects throughout the day.
It is important to find your own groove, but most importantly to have fun!
