Freedom Builders is a two-week service-learning experience in Quebrada Azul, San Carlos, where students come together to make a tangible difference in a local community.
During the two-week project, students worked as a team to rebuild and improve a school, taking part in hands on construction and community service activities. The experience involved demanding physical work, requiring students to collaborate, persevere, take responsibility, and support one another throughout the project.
But Freedom Builders was about much more than construction. Students stepped outside their comfort zones and learned firsthand the value of service, teamwork, leadership, resilience, and commitment. They experienced what it means to contribute their time and effort to something that will have a lasting impact on other children.
For two weeks, the students weren’t simply building a school—they were building character, relationships, confidence, and a sense of purpose.
